Come along and let off some steam this summer. Get hands on with history, learn about our industrial past, and have some fun in the process!

Explore the Museum

Have you always wondered what that big chimney was by the River Cam? Well, now is a perfect time to come and find out!

Our Museum will be open Friday - Sunday 10:30-16:00 all summer long. Learn about the story of sewage and waste disposal in the Victorian Pumping Station. Discover Cambridge’s forgotten industries in the Top Bay. Marvel at the town’s early high-tech companies in the Pye Building. Explore our industrial heritage around the site.

Summer at the Museums

Summer at the Museums returns with three drop-in activities happening on Fridays across the holidays! These sessions are included in museum admission, and bound to be fun for all the family!

> Friday 2nd August — I Can’t Believe My Eyes!

Have you ever wondered how animations work?

Try your hand at making a phenakistiscope, one of the earliest ways of creating moving images. Learn more about how our brains process what we see, to create the illusion of motion from still images!

> Friday 16th August — Postcard from CMT

Taking inspiration from the summer holidays, you’ll create a foam printing plate, which you can use to create your very own postcard. Send it to a friend, or keep it as a souvenir – the choice is yours!

> Friday 31st August — Take to the Skies!

Most people are familiar with the classic paper plane but did you know that there are many other alternatives? Try your hand at making some and compare their effectiveness. Which one will go the furthest?

Summer at the Museums is a Cambridge-wide event with a number of museums hosting family fun activites across the entire summer holidays! To find out about all the events happening this summer, please visit the Summer at the Museums website!

Pye, What Happened Next

Folk Day - Saturday 20th July 11am-8pm

Following on from the success of our first Folk Day last year, we are delighted to be hosting another. We will be showcasing performers from the local area selected and introduced by our partners from the Cambridge Folk Club and the Black Fen Folk Club.

Booking is recommended and can be done here.

Guided Tours of the Pye Exhibiton

On the second Sunday of each month (next up is 14th July and 11th August) join volunteers from the Pye History Trust as they guide you around the Pye exhibition — including our brand new Pye, What Comes Next.

Tours are included within the price of admission. More information can be found here.

Fantastic Hospitality

There are more ways than just visiting the museum to experience our unique site!

Each day, the best coffee in Cambridgeshire can be found at Kerb Kollective, situation on our lower yard. These coffee experts serve a range of hot and cold beverages, not to mention some absolutely scrumptious buns and pastries!

From Wednesday to Sundays, the Engineer’s House will be open each evening (plus from 12pm on the weekend!), serving Calverley Brewery’s delightful craft beers and Al Forno’s delicious pizzas. The Engineer’s House is located next to the museum and has a wonderful view overlooking the river.

Full information about our hospitality parters and their opening times may be found here.
