About the presentation
Clive Flack will be discussing his family’s steam contracting business which was based in Orwell in Cambridgeshire. Sidney Alfred Flack (1881 – 1946) ran a thriving business which at one point operated 6 sets of threshing tackle and two sets of ploughing tackle. After his death the family continued the business through changing times, sadly most of the steam traction and ploughing engines were scrapped by the late 1940s. Clive has researched the family business and the equipment which it owned and will be sharing his discoveries in what promises to be a fascinating and steamy evening!
About the speaker
Clive caught ‘the steam bug’ whilst growing up with a yard full of redundant threshing tackle. He was also lucky to meet Charles Roads who had inherited a large collection of steam ploughing engines which he took to rallies up and down the country. Clive quickly got involved and became hooked on steam. You may well meet him at a steam rally one day!
