Berrak Gokay (formerly of Anglian Water) explains how Victorian engineering cleaned up and transformed the river Cam through the construction of the pumping station on Riverside (now the Cambridge Museum of Technology). This illustrated talk, part of Cambridge History Festival 2017, traces how a number of eminent engineers, including Joseph Bazalgette, were involved in the debate about the engineering solution to Victorian Cambridge's smelly sanitation problem!
Tickets: £8.50, available in advance on Eventbrite
