Cambridge Industrial Archaeology Group is delighted to welcome Dr Jasmine Allen, the Curator of the internationally famous Stained Glass Museum at Ely to launch its Autumn Talks programme.

This talk will shed light on how advances in glass technology have influenced the development of stained glass through the ages. We will explore the history, and key technical and stylistic developments from the medieval period to the present day. Using illustrated examples from the collection of The Stained Glass Museum, the UK's only museum dedicated to stained glass located in Ely Cathedral, a number of illuminating and inspiring works from across Britain and Europe will be uncovered.

Dr Allen gained her doctorate from the University of York on stained glass and the international exhibitions in the nineteenth-century and has published a book on this subject.  She also acts as a specialist advisor to various committees.

The talk will take place in the Pye Building at Cambridge Museum of Technology.  Entrance on the night is via the Museum’s Cheddars Lane gate.

Tickets to the talk are available on the door for £3 a head but CIAG and Museum members and volunteers can come along for free!
