The Isle of Grain in Kent is a mysterious place at the best of times, and equally mysteriously the remains of an old Isle of Grain railway station, "Port Victoria”, appear out of the River Medway mud at each low tide! Why and how did a dispute between the London Chatham and Dover Railway (LCDR) and the South Eastern Railway (SER) create Port Victoria Station in the first place? Did Queen Victoria really use it and thus justify its name.? How did the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) become associated with the station during the First World War? These and many other questions will be answered by Dr. John Rolfe at 7.30 p.m. on January 10th online.
