We are delighted to host the launch of ‘Rebirth – A Maroon Warrior’, by General Saint, aka Winston Hislop.
Winston was born in Jamaica but moved to UK in 1977 where he built a career in reggae as part of the duo Clint Eastwood and General Saint whose albums made the top five in the indie chart.
His book reimagines the legend of Nanny, who was brought to Jamaica from West Africa in the late 17th century where she became a Maroon leader. Maroons were slaves who escaped and formed independent settlements.
