An exhibition about the restoration of No. 4 Boiler at Cambridge's Victorian sewage pumping station.
Cambridge Museum of Technology is based in Cambridge’s Victorian sewage pumping station, where steam engines pumped away the town’s sewage. Since the pumping station opened as a museum, Boiler No. 4 continued to fuel the steam engines for visitors to enjoy. Sadly, in 2014, the Babcock and Wilcox boiler that had provided steam for over 90 years finally broke. The Museum started a major project to restore the boiler in 2018. This exhibition tells the story of the highs and lows of bringing an historic boiler back to life.
Entrance is included in your museum ticket.
